The city of Limbe has beautiful Botanic Gardens, which is the second-best garden in Africa. It was created in 1892 by Dr. Paul Preuss, (a German Horticulturist). The Botanic Garden is a gateway to the riches of the Mount Cameroon region, an area internationally classified among the world’s biodiversity environments. It was used for the introduction and acclimatisation of exotic plants with economic and medicinal value.
Lying at the foothill of Mount Cameroon, the Limbe Botanic Garden provides a peaceful web of attractions in its refreshing garden like the jungle village, the British Commonwealth memorial war graves, splendid trees and an ideal haven for relaxation under the natural canopies. The Garden harbours several floras of which more than 100 species are unique to the Mount Cameroon region. The Botanic Garden is accessible throughout the year and there are trained nature interpretive guides to make your visit very interesting.
